ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Harry S. Truman Elementary School first opened its door to students living in the Agat-Santa Rita area under the Carlos C. Camacho / Kurt Moylan administration in August 1965. It was known as Agat-Santa Rita Elementary School under the leadership of Mrs. Maria Pereira Roberto, Principal.
At the time there were only two wings consisting of 12 classrooms for grades 1-6. The school had a library, cafeteria, two bathrooms, a teacher's lounge and the administrative office. The school retains it's original structure, but throughout the past 40 years it has gone through additions and changes.
The school's name was changed to Harry S Truman Elementary to honor the 33rd President of the United States, Harry S. Truman who signed the Organic Act in 1950 granting the people of Guam U.S. citizenship. The new name was made official at a dedication on the late President's birthday, May 8, 1970.
